Aligned to Oregon Standards and Designed for Active Learning

Oregon educators know that great teaching means balancing structure and flexibility, giving students the skills they need while keeping learning engaging and relevant. That’s exactly what Active Classroom delivers. Now officially approved for Grades 6–8, Active Classroom offers ready-to-teach Oregon courses, a vast library of resources, and the flexibility to teach your way—all within one powerful platform.

Approved Courses for Grades 6–8

Your Oregon-approved courses are aligned to the new 2024 Social Science Standards:

  • Grade 6: Paleolithic to 1900 CE (Western Hemisphere)
  • Grade 7: Paleolithic to 1900 CE (Eastern Hemisphere)
  • Grade 8: United States History, 1780–1865

Each course features engaging lessons with primary and secondary sources; inquiry-based activities that build background knowledge, literacy, and critical thinking; and formative and summative assessments. Teachers get structure for planning and reflection, while students engage in active, meaningful learning.

Structure and Flexibility

Active Classroom blends structured, standards-aligned courses with the freedom to adapt and create. Each lesson follows a clear flow—Engage and Connect, Deliver New Content, and Assess Mastery—so planning stays simple and purposeful.

Teachers can use the courses as is or customize lessons with thousands of ready-to-use activities. Whether following a course or designing your own route, Active Classroom gives you flexibility backed by structure.

A World of Resources

In addition to Oregon’s courses, teachers have full access to 5,000+ curated resources, including primary sources, maps, debates, videos, and simulations.

Resources are vetted for quality, standards-aligned, and designed to help teachers mix, match, and personalize instruction with ease.

Support for Every Student

Active Classroom helps every student participate, question, and discover. With built-in tools such as translation and text-to-speech, students can engage with content in ways that fit their learning styles. And teachers can assign readings at different Lexile levels or choose activity types that work best for their students, including audio, simulation, and video.

With Active Classroom, Oregon educators get structure when they need it, freedom when they want it, and active learning every day.
