Students begin by reading an introductory essay on the topic and engaging with a time line that provides additional information.
Then, students study the background information on groups of primary sources, and analyze the sources themselves, taking notes using worksheets.
Students use their worksheet notes to debate the primary sources as a class. Finally, students write a DBQ essay using evidence from the sources and their own background knowledge.
